Police: Man arrested after firing shots inside, outside his home in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department said a man has been arrested after firing shots inside and outside of his Reston townhouse early Monday.

Police said that at about 1:35 a.m., they responded to a 11900 block of Barrel Cooper Court in Reston for a person shooting a firearm.

As officers approached the home, shots could be heard.

Police saw the man outside his home holding a gun while looking to be under the influence.

The man then fell to the ground and dropped the gun, which allowed officers to take him into custody.

The man was identified as 43-year-old Mark Ellsbury of Reston.

Ellsbury was taken to the hospital due to being under the influence of unknown narcotics.

After being released from the hospital, he was taken to the adult detention center and charged with four counts of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm in or at an occupied building.

He is being held on no bond.
