Man shot at Glen Rock's Wilde Memorial Park; expected to survive

A man was shot Tuesday evening at a park in Glen Rock, the prosecutor's office stated.

Glen Rock police responded to a "disturbance at Wilde Memorial Park where a large crowd was gathered playing basketball on the outdoor basketball courts" at about 7:34 p.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella stated in a release.

The man, who was not identified, was being treated at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Musella stated.

Mayor Kristine Morieko, who confirmed the shooting earlier in the evening, stated it was "still an active investigation."

Musella said the park on Maple Avenue will be closed until further notice, but "there is no ongoing threat" to the community. The prosecutor did not state if there have been any arrests in the shooting

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigation Squad under Chief Matthew Finck, and the Glen Rock Police Department under Chief Dean Ackerman are conducting the investigation.

At about 8:15 p.m., NJ Transit posted on social that the trains on the Main-Bergen County Line were being "delayed in Glen Rock due to local police activity" in both directions. The train line runs adjacent to the park.
