One person dead following triple shooting during party celebrations at CT rental hall

One man was killed and two women were injured in a triple shooting in Waterbury in the early morning hours Monday following an argument between multiple individuals attending two different parties at a rental hall facility.

Police responded to the report of a shooting just before 1:30 a.m. at So Blu’niq, located at 117 Sharon Road, and found ballistic evidence before determining three people had been shot, according to a statement from Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police Department.

One of the victims was identified as 29-year-old Shaquille Morris, who was taken to an area hospital before he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, Bessette said.

Two women, ages 39 and 44, were treated and released from an area hospital after suffering injuries not considered life-threatening.

According to Bessette, all three people who were shot reside in Waterbury.

Bessette said investigators found that two parties were being hosted at So Blu’niq when a dispute broke out between individuals from each event, leading to the shooting. He said those involved previously knew each other.

No arrests have been made.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department Major Crimes Division.
