Haitian immigrant gunned down in ‘random’ Portland shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 30-year-old Haitian immigrant was killed in Southeast Portland in what police said was a random incident that left a car riddled with bullet holes last week.

Marc-Leon Telean, 30, died in a shooting near Southeast Powell and 86th, Portland police said Monday. Telean had recently moved to Portland from Haiti and officers believe that this shooting was a random incident.

A KOIN 6 News crew at the scene saw a white car covered in bullet holes, with shell casings and evidence markers clearly visible around the area.

A woman was also in the car at the time of the shooting. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

The incident is still under investigation and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact police.
