POLICE: Florence man arrested for attempted murder after argument led to shooting

FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – A man was arrested after a woman was injured in a shooting last Thursday, according to the Florence Police Department (FPD).

Officers responded to a call of a woman having been shot at a home on North Cherokee Street. When they arrived, officers found 40-year-old Quentin Lamont Smith inside the home with a gun.

He was arrested and charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.

An investigation revealed there was a domestic relationship between Smith and the victim. FPD said the two had an argument and Smith sliced at the woman with a knife and then fired several rounds at her.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Following that investigation, Smith was charged with attempted murder and third-degree domestic violence criminal mischief. He is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $675,000 bond.
