Police: Firearm buyer makes false statements on form in Hartley Township

May 23—HARTLEY TOWNSHIP — A Bucks County man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly made false statements on his firearm form, according to state police in Milton.

William Dick III, 69, of Boston Avenue, Trevose, was charged with a felony count of false statements during the sale of a firearm; and a misdemeanor count of false statements. The charges were filed by state Trooper Kyle Drick, of the Milton State Police Barracks, in the Mifflinburg office of District Judge Jeffrey Mensch.

Dick was denied a purchase of a firearm at Nogel's Trading Post at 3380 Creek Road, Hartley Township, at 10:42 a.m. Aug. 26, police said.

Dick allegedly answered no in response to the ATF form's question: "Have you ever been convicted in any court, including military court, of a felony or any other crime, for which the judge could have imprisoned the person for more than one year, even if you received a shorter sentence including probation?" police said.

In a review of Dick's criminal history, Drick reported that Dick had previously been convicted of a felony charge. Additionally, on another separate case, Dick was convicted of a misdemeanor charge, police said.

Dick told police he thought his misdemeanor charge was expunged. He allegedly said he was not paying attention when completing the paperwork, police said.

Dick was arraigned on Thursday and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. July 2 in front of Mensch.
