Police: Erwin man charged with assault, evading after intentionally crashing car

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — An Erwin man was charged with aggravated domestic assault and evading after allegedly deliberately crashing his car on Wednesday.

Deputies with the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded to a crash in the 1100 block of Conklin Road.

Upon arrival, the passenger was on the scene, but the driver, identified by police as Brice Teague, 37, allegedly fled on foot.

The passenger reportedly told police that Teague intentionally crashed the vehicle and said he “wanted to kill [them] and himself.”

Teague allegedly punched the victim multiple times in the arm and the victim had bruises on their wrists, arms and shoulders, the WCSO stated.

Deputies later found Teague in a field on Cloyd Road. He reportedly ran into the woods and was then found hiding under a log.

Crime Watch

Teague was arrested for the following:

  • Aggravated domestic assault

  • Evading arrest

  • Driving on a suspended license

While en route to the Washington County Detention Center, deputies had to stop multiple times due to Teague headbutting the partition separating the front and back seats. He was checked by the medical staff of the detention center and cleared.

As of Thursday, Teague was being held on a $50,000 bond. He was set to appear in court at 1:30 p.m.
