Plans unveiled for inclusive playground in Stanley

STANLEY, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A new playground is in the works at Stanley’s Chapman Park. These are the renderings for an inclusive playground. The Stanley Community Association says it will include a rubber ground cover and ramps for those using mobility devices. A splash pad is also in the plans for families in the rural communities to enjoy without having to travel.

The idea came about after the president of the association visited Eastern Wisconsin. The secretary jumped on board and helped with planning. And now they’re looking for the funding to cover it. Stanley Community Association President, Kristi Weiland, says, “Rural communities often don’t get their parks updated because of budgetary restraints and that goes for here in Stanley, too.”

Association Secretary, Nikki Witt, adds, “It’s a playground, but it’s really going to benefit the community, which will be really encouraging to see that too.”

The goal is to raise a million dollars for the project. If the association raises the fund, it says it could get started on building the playground next spring.
