Plane crash in Cumberland County reportedly leaves three injured Sunday morning

A plane crashed in Cumberland County Sunday morning, reportedly leaving three people injured.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

The single-engine plane, with three people on board, took off from Gray’s Creek Airport, then crashed about two miles away in a heavily wooded area, ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner, reported.

Gray’s Creek Fire Department responded to the crash scene at 7154 Butler Nursery Road, ABC11 reported. The address matches that of the airport, which is 13 miles south of downtown Fayetteville.

One person with serious injuries was taken to a trauma center, and the other two people were taken to a hospital, ABC 11 reported.

The News & Observer reached out to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Gray’s Creek Fire Department for more information about the crash. Both agencies told The N&O to contact the Highway Patrol, which has not yet replied to requests for information.
