Pippa Middleton's honeymoon hotel to star in second series of BBC2's Amazing Hotels?

Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby has been commissioned for a second series on BBC2, and it looks as though the first stop for presenters Monica Galetti and Giles Coren is The Brando: the £9,000 per night luxurious Polynesian island retreat where Pippa Middleton spent a week of her honeymoon.

Posts on Coren's and Galetti's social media accounts confirm that the food critic and the Masterchef Professionals judge have been shooting a second series of the documentary in the South Pacific.

“Filming. Undisclosed South Pacific location #AmazingHotels2,” is the caption to a recent selfie posted to Coren's Instagram account.

In a recent tweet Coren also recommends the services of a private transportation company in Tahiti.

Tahiti is the closest island to the tiny atoll where the exclusive Brando is located.

The Brando is also one of the few hotels in French Polynesia - if not the only hotel - to have its own beehives. Monica Galetti appeared in full bee-keeping gear against a tropical island backdrop in an image posted to her Instagram feed over the weekend.

The Brando certainly fits the bill for the documentary series, which so far has taken viewers behind the scenes at remarkable properties including Ecuador's Mashpi Lodge and Giraffe Manor in Kenya.

The small, exclusive beach resort sits in the otherwise untouched archipelago of Tetiaroa, formerly owned by the actor Marlon Brando (he bought the islands in 1966, having fallen in love with the region while filming Mutiny on the Bounty).

With its top-range facilities and 'castaway' sense of seclusion, it's little wonder that the hotel was the honeymoon destination of choice for Pippa Middleton's following her marriage to hedge fund manager James Matthews.

Barack Obama also visited the island idyll earlier this year in order to write his memoirs.

Pippa Middleton came to The Brando for her honeymoon, and Barack Obama stayed here post-presidency in order to write his memoirs.

Guests stay in a smattering of luxe one-, two- or three-bedroom villas fronting a pristine white-sand beach, with thick foliage providing each with an element of privacy.

Every villa has its own sea-view infinity pool, outdoor bath, and a media room where guests can watch movies and listen to music.

The eye-watering room rate includes a trip to the Varua Spa, which provides restful diversion with its range of Polynesian treatments. Active types can explore the atoll and its brilliant blue lagoons by bike, kayak or paddleboard. Scuba dives, tennis and deep sea fishing excursions are also offered.
