Pinpoint Weather: Warm Thursday, more rain on the way

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — For Thursday, a few isolated showers and storms cannot be ruled out in Southwest and Central Virginia. Otherwise, warmer conditions are in the forecast.

Patchy fog may impact the Thursday morning commute. It will be a mild start to the day with morning temperatures in the 50s and lower 60s. Expect variably cloudy skies overhead with afternoon temperatures ranging from the mid-70s into the lower 80s. If showers and storms do pop up during the day, it would be during the afternoon and early evening.

Friday will start mostly dry, but increasing rain chances are slated for the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the 70s.

A storm system will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to Southwest and Central Virginia late Friday through Saturday. Periods of heavy rainfall are possible on both days, which could lead to the risk of localized flooding. For Saturday, afternoon temperatures will reach the lower and middle 70s under cloudy skies.

While rain coverage will decrease on Sunday, scattered showers are still possible. It will be cooler and cloudy with high temperatures in the 60s and lower 70s.

Drier weather will return for the beginning of the upcoming week. A few showers are possible on Monday. Otherwise, a mix of sun and clouds will be overhead with afternoon temperatures in the lower and middle 70s. Rain chances are lower on Tuesday. Afternoon highs will reach the warmer 70s and lower 80s.
