Pinpoint Weather: Storm, heat for the holiday weekend

(WFXR) – Showers and storms remain in the forecast for the holiday weekend. The best chance of getting a storm will be during the afternoon and early evening hours.

With heat building and humidity in place, a few storms could get strong to severe during the afternoon and evening hours. The highest potential will be in the Highlands on Saturday and the New River Valley on Sunday.

Temperatures on Saturday will rise into the 80s areawide after starting in the 50s and 60s.

Temperatures will remain well above average for the holiday weekend. A cold front will move through and start dropping temperatures on Tuesday. Humidity drops for the middle and latter part of next weeks as temperatures dip below average.
