Pinpoint Weather: A.M. rain Wednesday, cooler air ahead

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — On Wednesday morning, a cold front will sweep through Southwest and Central Virginia. Spotty light rain showers are possible early in the day with sunshine peeking through during the afternoon.

Light rain showers will have the chance to move through the region during the morning hours on Wednesday. Shower coverage will be isolated, so not everyone will see rain. Most of the spotty wet weather will exit toward the east by mid-morning. Mostly cloudy skies will clear out during the afternoon as temperatures rise into the 60s and 70s. Wind gusts up to 25 mph are possible.

A mix of sun and clouds is in the forecast for Thursday. Cooler air will filter in, resulting in morning temperatures in the 40s and afternoon highs in the slightly cooler-than-average 60s. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies on Friday with highs in the 60s. A couple of mountain rain showers are possible for the afternoon and evening, but much of the region will stay mostly dry.

High pressure over the weekend will cause a warming trend across the region. Expect highs in the 60s and lower 70s on Saturday. It will feel more like summer on Sunday with highs in the 70s and lower 80s. Morning temperatures will generally be in the 40s and 50s. A few isolated showers are possible each day.

The summer-like temperatures will linger into the upcoming week. For Monday and Tuesday, afternoon temperatures will warm up to the upper 70s and into the middle 80s.
