Pinpoint Weather: Heat could lead to storms

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Heat will continue to build across the region on Wednesday.

Afternoon high temperatures are expected to be around 10 degrees above average.

As temperatures rise, pop-up showers and storms are possible in the mountains. The severe weather potential looks to remain to our west on Wednesday with any storms locally possibly producing heavy rain.

Rain and storm chances increase on Thursday as a cold front moves closer to the region. Daily chances for showers and storms are expected for Friday and throughout the holiday weekend as temperatures remain warm. Slightly cooler air will return on Tuesday.
