Pineville going with Plan B for new substation plant

PINEVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Pineville leaders are going with plan B on a site for a new power substation.

Town council members agreed to a settlement with the Miller family, who owns the land where the substation was first proposed. The town will buy about one and a half acres on the north side of Rock Hill-Pineville Road at Nations Ford Road.

Leaders had already selected a site across the street next to a housing subdivision, leading to neighbors’ opposition.

Officials say the substation is needed to meet Pineville’s influx of new residents.

It will cost the town $305,000 for the purchase of the property along with easements for power lines.
