PHOTOS: Fire guts home in renovation; $27K in damage

CANTON, Ohio (WJW) — Fire ripped through a Sherlock Place home early Thursday, causing $27,600 in damage.

Canton firefighters arrived just before 3 a.m. to the home in the 1000 block of Sherlock Place Northeast to find gouts of flame shooting from the attic windows and roof of the two-and-a-half-story home.

Crews quickly brought the fire under control, but not before the house sustained heavy damage, according to the release. Damages were estimated at $25,600 to the home’s structure and $2,000 to its contents.

The home was under renovation and was unoccupied at the time. No one was injured.

Firefighters believe the blaze started in the attic. The cause is still under investigation.
