GRAFTON, Ohio (WJW) — Humane workers this week rescued 88 animals, including goats, pigs, rabbits, dogs and fowl, they say had been neglected on a Lorain County farm.

Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County humane agent Vickie McDonald on Tuesday, April 9, obtained a search warrant for the premises along Indian Hollow Road, which had been “suspected of unsanitary conditions and medical neglect,” reads a Thursday news release from league Executive Director Gregory Wiley.

APL workers and Lorain County sheriff’s deputies teamed up for the warranted search, Wiley wrote. Humane agents impounded 88 live animals due to neglect, which are now in the league’s protective custody, and also retrieved a number of dead animals from the property, according to the release.

The APL collected photos evidencing the animals’ poor conditions, including some that were “more graphic” than those shown above. Those photos were withheld while the case is still being actively investigated.

The owner of the animals has not been charged. A probable cause hearing is pending in the Elyria Municipal Court, said Wiley.
