Pet dead, 8 displaced after San Leandro house fire

(KRON) — Five adults and three children were displaced after a house fire in San Leandro, the Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) said Tuesday on X. The fire happened early Monday morning at a family residence on 135th Street.

The fire started in the garage and “quickly” spread to the home, officials said. Fire crews were able to fully extinguish the fire within minutes. However, the family’s cat died from the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the victims of the fire. No other injuries were reported.
