Person shot, injured on pool deck at Redpoint Tallahassee apartment complex, police say

A woman was shot and injured in the hand Sunday evening at the pool of an off-campus student apartment complex in Tallahassee, according to police.

Officers investigated the shooting that occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the Redpoint Tallahassee apartment complex off Mission Road, according to the Tallahassee Online Police Statistics (TOPS) map.

The victim suffered a non-life threatening injury, according to a email statement from the complex's manager that was sent to residents.

"We are working cooperatively with law enforcement in this active investigation, to gather more information and to respond," Benjamin Dalmeida, the manager, said in the email. "Please always let us know if you observe anything of concern. This community belongs to all of us, and together we can help keep it safe."

A request for comment about the circumstances leading to the shooting and whether the suspect and the victim were known to one another is pending with police. A news release, however, said no arrests have been made as of Monday morning and there are as yet no suspects in the case.

Sunday's shooting is the latest serious one in the capital city and county: So far this year, 10 people have died and 19 people have been injured in 26 shootings, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
