Person seriously injured after being hit by a car in Amherst

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person was seriously injured after being hit by a car on South Youngs Road in Amherst on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police responded just after 2:10 p.m. to South Youngs, south of Main Street, where a 20-year-old man from Cheektowaga was hit while crossing the street by a 2015 Chevy Cruze, which police said was being driven by a 59-year-old Lockport man.

The 20-year-old suffered serious head injuries and was transported to ECMC for treatment. The driver was not injured. The area was closed for a time.

The crash is currently under investigation but no charges have been filed. Anyone with security or dash-cam video is asked to contact Amherst police at 716-689-1311.
