Driver loses consciousness, causes crash in east Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A driver lost consciousness and caused a crash in east Wichita Sunday afternoon. The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. at East Kellogg Drive and Rock Road.

“The blue car, the driver of that car, had an apparent medical situation. He apparently lost consciousness, hit the black car, then rear-ended the white car,” Wichita Police Department Sgt. Phaustino Naldoza, Wichita Police Department, said.

Naldolza said one of the drivers that was hit was able to help the man who lost consciousness.

“The driver of that white car, he got out of his car, initially he was angry that he got run into and looked into the blue car, realized that the driver of that car was having some kind of medical emergency and broke the window to extract the driver of the blue car,” said Naldoza.

The driver was taken in serious to critical condition to a local hospital, where they downgraded the state of his condition.
