Person dies in Great Falls after car crashes into tree

GREAT FALLS, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said that a person died after a car crashed into a tree in Great Falls early Thursday morning.

FCPD officers responded to the 11300 block of Georgetown Pike around 12:20 a.m. for the crash. Police said that the car left the road and hit a tree.

The driver, 22-year-old Osman Elgamri of Sterling, was the only person in the car. Elgamri died there.

Investigators believed that speed was a factor in the crash. They were also looking into whether or not alcohol or narcotics were factors as well.
