Person on BART track delays trains in East Bay Thursday

(KRON) — A person who was reported to be on the Bay Area Rapid Transit trackway is delaying trains in the East Bay during the Thursday morning commute, according to the transit agency.

The person was on the BART track between Ashby Station and Downtown Berkeley Station, BART said on X at 7:18 a.m. A major delay is affecting commuters on the Richmond, Berryessa and Millbrae directions.

A major delay is also reported on the San Francisco Line in the Millbrae and Richmond directions as of 8:02 a.m., BART said.

BART Police Department officers picked up the individual who was on the tracks, the transit agency told KRON4. The trains were blocked for about 20 minutes.
