Permanent lanes on I-95 in Philadelphia reopened a year after fire

(WHTM)– All permanent lanes of I-95 in northeast Philadelphia have now reopened.

All eight lanes were destroyed a year ago by a massive fire.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Mike Carroll was joined by Federal Highway Administrator Shailen Bhatt, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, and other officials to commemorate the completion of the permanent repairs to I-95 in northeast Philadelphia, less than a year after a fire last June caused the roadway to collapse. All lanes on I-95 in the area will be open to traffic by 5:00 AM on Friday morning, May 24, as well as one lane on the newly constructed ramp from northbound I-95 to Cottman Avenue, just in time for holiday weekend travel.
