It's the perfect time of year for Brevard waterfront dining: Here are 5 places to try

Brevard County is well known for having roughly 72 miles of waterfront property.

Peppered along that long stretch of land are waterfront restaurants, whether they be along the intracoastal or beachside. With spring officially here, and students on break from school and tourists in town, this is the perfect time to visit one of Brevard’s picturesque waterfront restaurants.

We narrowed the list to some of our favorites throughout the county to help you decide where to get a meal and a view. From the north part of the county to the south, we have options that stretch all along the Space Coast.

Described as a “tiki bar like no other,” Dolphins Waterfront Bar & Grill is tucked away along the shores of the historic Canaveral Barge Canal. Enjoy gorgeous sunset views while dolphins and manatees swim by you as you dine. The fare leans toward a Hawaiian vibe with entrees including Kalia pork, Aloha Curry and Hawaiian sauteed garlic shrimp. In addition to the food and atmosphere, on many nights, diners also are treated to live music.

This Caribbean-nautical themed restaurant is situated along the Eau Gallie River smack-dab in the center of the county. Although, once you step inside the restaurant, among the water views and lush landscaping, you may just forget you’re sipping on a cocktail in the middle of Brevard. The large menu has everything from burgers to salads to a raw bar and sushi as well as seafood. Its macadamia and coconut grouper sandwich is a well-loved sandwich at its sister restaurant in South Florida. Frigates also serves a brunch buffet Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brevardians may know this location as the old Captain Katanna’s. Now it’s a sunny, tiki-hutted, revitalized restaurant with views of the Indian River, plus docks for boaters to arrive by water. There are plenty of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options if your dining group has varying needs. Check the restaurant’s Facebook page for special deals and live entertainment.

Shiloh's Steak & Seafood

3665 S. Washington Ave., Titusville, 321-567-3555, shilohstitusville.com.

Up in the north end of the county is Shiloh’s Steak & Seafood. Located on the Indian River, this is a prime spot to come grab dinner and watch a rocket a launch. Shiloh’s is owned by the Sanders family, which has been part of the restaurant industry in Brevard for more than 30 years. They took time crafting a sophisticated menu, from burgers to fish tacos to steaks. If you’re extra-hungry, they have the meal for you. The Baby Bull is a 34-ounce, handcut ribeye that can take up to an hour to prepare depending on how you want it cooked.

Yellow Dog Cafe

905 U.S. 1, Malabar, 321-956-3334, yellowdogcafe.com

Yellow Dog Café checks all the boxes: beautiful restaurant with spectacular views of the Indian River and delicious food. Longtime owner and chef Stuart Borton consistently delivers comfort food with a flair: from homemade potato chips to onion-crusted chicken to roasted duckling. You might want to have your camera on the ready because you’ll likely see a dolphin or two frolicking in the waters just beyond your dining table. If you’re looking for an extra-special experience, book the single table at the end of the dock.
