Biker from Pennsylvania killed in Sunday night crash in Volusia County

A 66-year-old Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania man died in a motorcycle accident that happened at about 9:31 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP reported that the man was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson eastbound on High Bridge Road east of Walter Boardman Lane in Volusia County when he ran off the roadway.

An FHP report says the rider ran off the road to the right and overcorrected left attempting to get back on the roadway and the bike overturned, throwing the man. He was wearing a helmet.

The crash prompted a roadblock for both lanes of travel on High Bridge Road.

The rider was pronounced dead on the scene. It was the second motorcycle death since thousands of bikers arrived in the Daytona Beach area for Bike Week starting Friday.

On Saturday, a 39-year-old woman from Palm Coast was killed while riding on the back of a Harley-Davidson after an SUV driven by a 78-year-old Ormond Beach man ran a stop sign, according to FHP.
