PennDOT: Watch for road work vehicles in rural areas too

PENNSYLVANIA (WETM) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is asking drivers to watch for slow-moving construction vehicles during their travels as the warmer months are coming and road work projects are beginning.

While most people expect projects to take place on interstates and other high-traffic areas, work also takes place on less traveled roads in rural areas during the spring and summer months.

PennDOT is asking drivers to be aware that they may encounter roadwork and slow-moving PennDOT work vehicles, as well as changes in traffic patterns, in rural areas in the coming future.

Work done on these low-traffic roads may include mowing, herbicide spraying and line painting. Drivers should give these workers plenty of room to operate in their vehicles, as well as remain alert and drive with caution.

Drivers can check the conditions of major roadways at all times on 511pa.com to stay up-to-date with daily road conditions.
