STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WHTM) – Penn State will host Florida International University on Sept. 6, 2025.

The news came from an X post by Brett McMurphy of Action Network on Monday.

The only time the Nittany Lions have played FIU was in 2007 when Penn State shut out the Golden Panthers 59-0 inside Beaver Stadium.

The FIU game would be the second of the season for Penn State. The Nittany Lions will open the 2025 season against Nevada on August 30.

FIU finished the 2023 season 4-8 overall and 1-7 in Conference USA play.

FIU is led by head coach Mike MacIntyre, who will be entering his third season with the Panthers for the 2024 season. MacIntyre previously served as a head coach with San Jose State University (2010-12) and the University of Colorado (2013-2018).

Most recently before joining FIU MacIntyre was the defensive coordinator for the University of Memphis from 2020-21.
