Peel police are investigating after a body was found on the shores of Lake Ontario in Mississauga on Monday.

Police received the call at around 12 p.m. from someone whose home on Richey Crescent backs onto the lake, Const. Richard Chin told reporters.

Chin said police are trying to figure out what the circumstances were that led to the body being in the lake. He said the body had likely been in the water for 24 to 48 hours.

Aside from the fact that the person was an adult, little other information was shared by police.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
