Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man was sent to the hospital Friday after being struck by a vehicle in Pacific Beach, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a 26-year-old man was driving a 2019 Toyota Corolla westbound in the 1500 block of Grand Avenue around 12:40 a.m.

At that same time, a 23-year-old man was crossing on foot northbound at 1400 Grand Ave. and Haines Street. Police said the pedestrian ran into the path of the driver and was struck. He sustained a large laceration to his right groin area and was transported to a local hospital.

SDPD’s Traffic Division responded to the scene and will be handling the collision investigation. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
