Pedestrian struck by tractor-trailer on Glenn Highway in Anchorage

Apr. 26—A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday after being struck by a tractor-trailer on the inbound Glenn Highway near the Muldoon Road exit, Anchorage police said.

A tractor-trailer struck the pedestrian around 11 a.m. Friday as it was being driven inbound on the highway north of the Muldoon exit, police said in an online statement. The pedestrian is a woman, according to an Anchorage police spokeswoman.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with what police said are believed to be life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer stayed at the collision scene and was cooperating with authorities, police said. No charges have been filed at this point, according to the police statement.

The police spokeswoman said she wouldn't have additional details to share about what happened until police have finished investigating the collision scene.

The collision initially limited inbound traffic to one lane of the highway while investigators processed the scene. All lanes of the highway reopened by 4 p.m., police said in an online update.
