Pedestrian killed on Evangeline Thruway early Friday morning
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A Lafayette man was killed while walking on Evangeline Thruway early Friday morning, authorities said.
Anthony Derouen, 63, of Lafayette, was pronunced dead at the scene of a crash in the 1400 block of SW Evangeline Thruway, according to Lafayette Police.
Police responded at 12:50 a.m. Friday to a report of a pedestrian involved in a vehicle accident. Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was traveling southbound on in the outside lane, where Derouen was walking in the middle of the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.
The driver was taken to the Lafayette Police Department where she provided a voluntary breath sample of 0.0% BAC.
This crash is still under investigation with the Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
