Police identify cyclist who died after collision with Iowa charter bus in Covington

Police have identified the man who died after being struck by a charter bus in Covington Thursday.

Jonathon Hussing, 26, of Covington, was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a charter bus traveling from Iowa to tour the Northern Kentucky area, police said in a news release.

The police previously reported Hussing as a "pedestrian," but they later clarified he was not walking, but rather cycling when he was struck.

Officers responded to the collision at the intersection of 12th and Scott streets just before 9 a.m.

Hussing was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Just after 12:30 p.m., Lt. Justin Bradbury confirmed Hussing had died.

Detectives and officers with the Covington Police Department's traffic bureau are investigating the crash.
