Pedestrian dies after being hit by SUV in Tampa
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A pedestrian died Friday night after being hit by an SUV in Tampa, according to the Tampa Police Department.
A woman was trying to cross the road at about 9:45 p.m. in the 8700 block of 40th Street when she was hit in a crosswalk, police said. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.
The driver stayed at the location of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
40th Street will remain closed between Yukon Street and Humphrey Street for the duration of the investigation.
