PD: Man out on bail leads police on chase through Lycoming County

OLD LYCOMING TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Police arrested a man they say led officers on a chase for several miles while under the influence of crack cocaine.

On April 19, the Lycoming Regional Police Department said they arrested 60-year-old David Miller, of Lycoming Township, for fleeing a traffic traffic stop while under the influence.

Law enforcement said they attempted to stop Miller after he failed to stop at a stop sign at State Route 15 and Beautys Run Road in Old Lycoming Township. However, Miller didn’t stop and instead led officers on a pursuit for several miles through multiple municipalities.

Authorities said they eventually stopped Miller by using a “tire deflation device” on State Route 15 Highway near Trout Run. Miller was the only person in the car and uninjured.

As investigators spoke to Miller, they said they noticed he was wearing an ankle monitor. Miller then reportedly told officers he didn’t stop because “he had been smoking crack cocaine.”

Law enforcement said Miller has multiple DUI/fleeing convictions and was out on bail for similar offenses.

Miller is being charged with felony driving under the influence of controlled substances, fleeing, and various other traffic offenses. He was sent to the Lycoming County Prison on $25,000 bail.
