2024 has already seen us say farewell to some famous faces from the world of entertainment and beyond. Here, we pay tribute to stars and celebrities of TV, film and beyond, along with the words of their friends, colleagues and loved ones – gone but never forgotten.
Brian McCardie – Line of Duty and Outlander star – died April 28, aged 59
"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian James McCardie (59), beloved son, brother, uncle and dear friend to so many. Brian passed away suddenly at home on Sunday 28th April. A wonderful and passionate actor on stage and screen, Brian loved his work and touched many lives, and is gone much too soon. We love him and will miss him greatly; please remember Brian in your thoughts.Funeral arrangements will be announced in the days ahead. Samantha Davis - actor and founder of Little People UK - died March 24, aged 53

Adrian Schiller – starred as Aethelhelm in The Last Kingdom – died aged 60

Chance Perdomo – actor from Gen V and Sabrina – died March 30, aged 27

George Gilbey – Gogglebox star – died 27 March, aged 40

Akira Toriyama - creator of Dragon Ball Z - died March 1, aged 68

It's our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation. He would have many more things to achieve. However, he has left many manga titles and works of art in this world.

Dave Myers - Hairy Bikers star - died February 28, aged 66
"Hi everyone, I'm afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years.
"Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.
"Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you god's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Kenneth Mitchell - star of Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Marvel - died February 24, aged 49

John Savident - Coronation Street's Fred Elliot - died February 21, aged 86

Stuart Organ – Brookside, Grange Hill and Doctor Who actor – died aged 72
The Grange Hill actor was best known for playing headteacher Peter Robson on the children's television drama, and was the longest-serving member of staff in the school.
Ewen MacIntosh - best known for his role as Keith in The Office – died aged 50

Ian Lavender - Dad's Army and EastEnders star - died February 2, aged 77

Derek Draper – former political adviser and husband of TV presenter Kate Garraway – died January 5, aged 56

As some of you may know he has been critically ill following a cardiac arrest in early December which, because of the damage inflicted by Covid in March 2020, led to further complications. Derek was surrounded by his family in his final days and I was by his side holding his hand throughout the last long hours and when he passed.
