Party at these Greater New Orleans events for St. Patrick’s Day

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Grab your green, St. Patrick’s Day is almost here!

With Mardi Gras making its formal exit, parade enthusiasts are ready to get their fix for St. Patrick’s Day.

Whether you’re looking to catch some cabbage or relish in the luck of the Irish, WGNO put together a list of St. Patrick’s Day events happening in the Greater New Orleans area.

Louisiana Irish Italian Parade

The Louisiana Irish Italian Parade is returning to Metairie for a 42nd year. According to the Louisiana Irish Italian Parade website, the parade is “the largest parade in Metairie” and features marching groups, floats, trucks and more.

  • Sunday, March 24 at 12 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Metairie Road

This family-friendly parade rolls down Metairie Road in Old Metairie and includes over 100 floats, trucks, bands and marching clubs, according to the St. Patrick’s Day in Metairie Road website. The website also states the parade is “one of the top ten best and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parades in the United States.”

Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This New Orleans St. Patrick’s Day group was founded in 1947 and boasts “the largest membership ever,” according to its website. The festivities will begin with a pre-parade mass followed by a parade up Magazine Street with “hundreds of men in formal attire.”

Drink and Learn: St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations at Sazerac House

The Sazerac House is hosting a Drink and Learn St. Patrick’s Day Celebration where guests can sample four craft cocktails made with Irish whiskey and get recipe cards to take home. For more information, visit the Sazerac House website.

LCMC St. Patrick’s Day Classic

The LCMC St. Patrick’s Day Classic is returning to Metairie Road for a 10th year. According to a release, the 2-mile fun run will take place before the St. Patrick’s Day parade and start at Gennaro’s Bar and end at Friscoe Avenue.

St. Patrick’s Day at Pat O’Brien’s

Pat O’Brien’s Bar is offering a $6 Fuzzy Leprechaun drink and opening its piano lounge at 1 p.m. for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, according to an Instagram post. The post also states complementary Pat O’Brien’s hats and beads will be available.

Hyatt Centric French Quarter St. Patrick’s Day Events

The Hyatt Centric French Quarter is collaborating with the Irish Network New Orleans for an Irish dance class on St. Patrick’s Day. The hotel will also host a traditional Irish band in its lobby on March 16, according to a release. The hotel is also offering a selection of St. Patrick’s Day-themed cocktails.
