Former Iowa defensive end Joe Evans claimed he set a personal record at his pro day in a number of major categories. He appeared more slender, with more pep in his step. And it appears he’ll no longer be a defensive end.

“I ran some routes and I PR’d in my vertical, which was nice,” Joe Evans said. “The fullback stuff was a lot of fun. Just catching balls out of the backfield.”

On Iowa’s pro day, Evans made it clear that he will do whatever it takes to continue his football career — even if it means playing a completely different side of the ball.

“I honestly don’t care where you put me,” Evans said. “I just want to play football.”

He’s not the only one. Defensive end Logan Lee ran some routes in front of NFL scouts as a tight end. He played tight end at Orion High School. Lee doesn’t plan on being drafted as a tight end, but wants to show pro teams that he could be a contributor on special teams.

“I ended up doing all the tight end position work,” Lee said. “There’s a couple teams asked me to run a few routes so I just did everything so I’m just trying to be versatile.”
