Panda Express Adds General Tso's Chicken To The Menu

From Delish

Despite the fact that Panda Express might not the most authentic Chinese food available, I think we can all agree that it's definitely the most delicious and the most easily accessible (hello, mall food courts). Crispy, sweet-and-spicy Orange Chicken has been their most popular dish for a long time, but now there's a new player in the game. As of yesterday, Panda Express has officially launched General Tso's Chicken, an "American Chinese original."

Our first question? HOW did they not have this dish before? It's super popular and a standard on most Chinese restaurant menus. But better late than never, we guess? The company describes its new General Tso's Chicken as being "a delicious fusion of Chinese and American flavors: savory spice from Hunan Province and vegetables found in the U.S." It's a perfect example of the style of food Panda Express strives to create, a combination of traditional Chinese recipes with American trends and tastes.

According to the Panda Express website, General Tso was a real Chinese general during the Qing Dynasty; however, he had nothing to do with the creation of the dish in 1955. Panda Express is also adjusting its recipe to perfectly mix together Chinese and American influences, using all-white-mean chicken, green beans, bell peppers.

It's only available until December 27th of this year, though, so get out to your nearest fall and run to the food court, stat. Or try our Skinny Panda Express Chow Mein.
