Padres cancel FanFest due to weather

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The Padres on Thursday announced the cancelation of its annual FanFest at Petco Park due to “the possibility of thunderstorms, heavy rain and gusty winds” this weekend.

The event, which was set for Sunday, will not be rescheduled, the team said in a news release. Instead, FanFest ticketholders will have access to free tickets to the exhibition game of their choice next week while tickets remain.

“FanFest ticketholders will have the opportunity to claim up to four (4) free tickets to attend either Monday’s 6:40 p.m. PT exhibition game against the Seattle Mariners at Petco Park, or Tuesday’s 1:10 p.m. PT contest, while tickets remain,” the Padres said.

The complimentary tickets include seating in the upper deck, right field upper level, left field reserved and Gallagher Square, according to the team. Tickets can be claimed here.

In addition, the Padres changed the start time for Saturday’s celebration of life ceremony for former Padres Chairman and Owner Peter Seidler from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Parking is free for that event.
