The Green Ribbon honor is prestigious as each school or educational program is only eligible to receive the award once.

Other awards were announced for schools that demonstrated work in reducing environmental impact and costs, as well as improving health and promoting effective sustainability practices.

Three school districts in California were chosen as District Sustainability awardees: Claremont School District in Claremont, Rio School District in Oxnard and Cabrillo Unified School District in Half Moon Bay.

A total of 41 schools, 10 districts, three postsecondary institutions and one early learning center have been selected for 2024 USDE Green Ribbon honors. All recipients are invited to a celebratory ceremony in Washington, D.C to be announced at a later date.
