Owensboro City Commission digest, April 21, 2024
At its meeting Tuesday, the Owensboro City Commission took the following actions:
• Recognized the retirements of officer Joshua Alsip and officer Allen Schrecker of the Owensboro Police Department.
• Proclaimed “Emergency Medical Services Week.”
• Received a presentation on the “Amped Up Artistry” project from the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce Chamber Young Professionals.
• Received a presentation about the proposed renovation of English Park.
• Considered the city projects list.
• Held first reading of the 2024-24 city budget ordinance.
• Held first reading of an ordinance amending the 2023-24 city budget to appropriate funds for the Senior Community Center facility, and to the RiverPark Center.
• Held first reading of an ordinance entitled “Establishing the compensation of city employees and non-elected city officials in accordance with a personnel and pay classification plan, as required by KRS 83A.070.”
• Received the April financial report.
• Approved hiring Darrin L. Brown, Anthony A. Esparza, Noah W. Hopper, Dominic J. Jackson, Derek D. Jessee, and Tyler L. Morrison as probationary, full-time non-civil service police officers with the Owensboro Police Department, contingent upon successful completion of all post-offer, pre-employment requirements.
• Approved hiring Danny J. Prater as probationary, full-time, non-civil service mechanic with the Public Works Department.
• Approved hiring Jeremy L. Wachtel as probationary, full-time, non-civil service road worker with the Public Works Department.
• Approved promoting Michael j. Knight as probationary, full-time, non-civil service instrument technician with the Public Works Department.
