Driver, 59, seriously injured in overturned tractor-trailer crash on NJ Turnpike: police
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - A tractor trailer driver was seriously injured when investigators say his truck toppled over while merging onto the New Jersey Turnpike Tuesday morning.
The apparent accident happened just before 6 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway near milepost 34.6 in Mount Laurel Township.
Investigators say the 59-year-old driver was attempting to negotiate an on-ramp when his truck fell onto its side on the grassy median.
New Jersey State Police said the driver, a Philadelphia resident, was hospitalized with "serious injuries."
The crash caused rush hour traffic to slow, but still squeeze by using the left lane.
