Overnight triple shooting on Beale Street injures 3 people, MPD looking for suspect
UPDATE: The Memphis Police Department took to social media to provide more information about the suspect they say was involved in Saturday morning’s Beale Street shooting.
In the post, MPD released a video and photos of the suspect they say shot three men.
The suspect has been described as an approximately 5’6″ man with a medium-heavy build, wearing a white tank t-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
He was armed with an unknown caliber handgun.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three men were shot on Beale Street early Saturday morning, police say.
At 3:37 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Beale Street regarding a shooting. Officers located three male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
All three were taken to Regional One Hospital with one considered critical and the other two non-critical.

Police say the male suspect fled the scene wearing a white tank top and blue jean shorts.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Mayor discusses plans to combat crime during AKA event
A Memphis resident who only wanted to be called “Nick” says he often comes to the late-night spots on Beale Street and blames the youth for the ongoing issues.
“The Jerry Lee Lewis, the Green Room, and the Tin Room. It’s a good crowd until the young people come. If don’t nobody under 21 comes down here we’ll have a peaceful night,” Nick said. “What happened last was a security guard. I understand that but normally it’s the young crowd that causes the problems.”
Julius Williams is an armed licensed security guard in Memphis. He says he has been in security since 2005 but is thinking of quitting due to the increase in what he calls disrespect from the public.
“I’ve been an armed guard since 2005 it wasn’t like this 10 years ago,” Williams said. “It’s gotten to the point where we don’t have a right to do anything anymore. You can’t stop them you can’t lock them in the store you can’t put handcuffs on them. It’s like we’re there for nothing. A lot of people stop doing security because of that.”
A spokesperson from Tin Roof issued the following statement:
Early on the morning of April 27 outside of our establishment, an individual shot at three employees of a private security company contracted as unarmed guards by Tin Roof. We have confirmed that they are okay and are cooperating with local authorities to provide the information and support they need in their investigation.”
