When will outdoor public pools open in New York City?

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The weather is starting to warm up in New York City, and with beaches opening up for Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, many wonder when public pools around the city will open.

A spokesperson for the Parks Department told PIX11 News that outdoor pools will be opened around the city on June 27.

The pools will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a pool cleaning break between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., according to the Parks Department’s website.

Things To Do Around NYC

Ideally, New York City would have over 1,000 trained lifeguards on hand for summer, but this year, the city won’t even come close, Deputy Mayor Meera Joshi said on Tuesday in reference to the city’s beaches.

In February, the city announced it would offer a $1,000 bonus to all returning lifeguards who work through peak season, and increased pay for lifeguards at $22 per hour.
