New Orleans police investigate fatal crash in Gentilly

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a crash that left a woman dead in the Gentilly area on Thursday, May 2.

The NOPD reported officers responded to a crash on Interstate 610 East at St. Bernard Avenue around 4:26 p.m.

At the scene, NOPD officers said they found an overturned car and a woman.

NOPD officials said an initial investigation shows the woman was driving east on Interstate 610 when she lost control and reportedly hit another car and two trees, causing her car to roll over.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the other car was uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Orleans Parish coroner will identify the victim.
