Original story

FOX 35 has declared Wednesday a FOX 35 Storm Alert Day as clusters of thunderstorms — some with the potential to be severe — are expected to make their way across Central Florida.

FOX 35's Noah Bergren said the window for storms to develop is from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday. The main threats are heavy rain, damaging winds, hail, and even the possibility of a tornado warning or two.

Most of Central Florida is under a Level 2 – Likely – severe storm threat from the NWS Storm Prediction Center.

High temperatures on Wednesday are expected to be in the high 80s over most of the region.

Tuesday was a FOX 35 Storm Alert Day as clusters of storms spread across the Florida Panhandle down to Florida bringing with them heavy rain and damaging winds.

In Titusville, a tree fell onto a house on Westview Lane. According to the Titusville Fire Department, one person was found on the ground with a head and leg injury. It was not immediately clear if the tree fell on the person.

"A neighbor related just prior to the tree falling, the wind picked up as a storm approached. After the tree fell, he heard a scream and found the patient on the ground. At that time he called 911," the fire department said.

Less than a hour later, firefighters responded to a fire at a two-story building on Harrison Street. Authorities said smoke was seen coming from the building's roof. Lightning is suspected to be the cause of that fire.

All those inside were able to evacuate.

Orlando Hour-by-Hour Forecast

Storms on Tuesday look to arrive late this morning, then perhaps another round this evening.

In the big picture, we are on the northern periphery of a huge ridge of high pressure over the tropics. The aloft flow guides small weather systems into Florida from the west, resulting in these periodic storm chances.

Hurricane season begins in the Atlantic basin in about two weeks, but already in the eastern Pacific basin (which poses no threat here), the NHC is tracking the potential of the season's first tropical system, tracking west into the open Pacific. History has shown that in this region, when tropical activity spikes, it's often an indication of future disturbances forming in the Atlantic basin, though no threats were apparent to us at that time.
