Open burning in Kern to end May 13: KCFD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The open burning of hazard reduction fuels will close effective Monday, according to the Kern County Fire Department.

The decision comes after multiple factors mainly, live fuel moisture levels. As temperatures in Kern begin to rise, causing humidity to drop, vegetation will continue to dry out making it susceptible to burning, the department said through a news release.
