Onsted superintendent candidates to interview for position over two days, April 23-24

ONSTED — The first-round interview schedule of superintendent candidates has been set by the Onsted Community Schools Board of Education.

The interviews will take place over two days from 6 to 9 p.m. April 23 and 24, during special board of education meetings in the Onsted High School Auditeria, 10109 Slee Road. Each candidate is scheduled to be interviewed for one hour. Following the interviews, the board will determine the candidates who will be invited for second round interview as well as a campus site visit, a news release from Onsted Community Schools said.

Here are the interview schedules for the superintendent candidates:

April 23

6 p.m.: Ryan Cunningham, Ovid-Elsie Area Schools superintendent from 2010-2022.

7 p.m.: Patrick Dillon, current principal at Napoleon High School in Jackson County since 2008.

8 p.m.: Jodi Ferris, current principal of Fremont Pathfinder Elementary Schools in Fremont, Mich since 2019.

April 24

6 p.m.: Clara Howitt; Greater Essex County District Superintendent, Ontario, Canada, from 1994 to 2024.

7 p.m.: Jonathon Royce, current principal of Charlotte High School since 2021.

8 p.m.: David Raleigh, current superintendent of LaRue County Schools in Kentucky since 2018.

These six candidates were among a pool of 19 applicants presented to the board. Randy Liepa from the Michigan Leadership Institute (MLI) is the consultant assisting with the superintendent search process.

The district plans for the new superintendent to begin their role with OCS on or around June 1. Current Superintendent Steve Head, announced in December his retirement, effective June 30, after 29 years with Onsted schools. In 2017, he succeeded Mark Haag — currently the superintendent at the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) — as Onsted’s superintendent.
