One young adult is dead in Friday daytime shooting in Columbus. Suspect arrested

One person has been killed after a shooting on Cusseta Road in Columbus, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan has identified the victim as Raquise Walls, 20, who was pronounced dead at 12:42 p.m. at a local hospital.

The shooting occurred at 3737 Cusseta Road, which is the address listed for Avalon Apartments, according to Bryan.

Henderson said the Walls’ body will be sent to the GBI for an autopsy.”

Police said they responded to Avalon Apartments around 12:11 p.m. in reference to a shooting and found Walls suffering from a gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation revealed Jaylen Paige, 19, as the suspect in Walls’ death, according to police.

Police said warrants were issued for Paige’s arrest for murder and armed robbery.

Paige was taken into custody at 5:25 p.m. in Phenix City, Ala., by CPD’s Fugitive Unit with assistance from the Phenix City Police Department, according to police.
